Dr Maria Montessori
MONTESSORI HISTORY
Dr. Maria Montessori was born on 31st August, 1870 at Chiaravalle in the province of Ancona, Italy. She was a trained psychologist gynaccologist and Educationist. It is she who created a scientific method of teaching called the “montessori” method which combines philosophy with practical approach.
Dr. Montessori felt that the goal of early childhood, education, should not be to fill the child with facts from a pre-selected course of studies but rather to cultivate the child’s own natural desire to learn by providing him/her with an environment which is full of challenges. Dr. Montessori’s particular cause was to help children to learn to live together in harmony. A positive force for god which would last into adult life.

FROM THE PRINCIPAL DESK
Since 1962 MONTESSORI BAL NILAYA has firmly believed in the principle, “Follow the child”. In a prepared environment children are led to ask questions, think for themselves, explore, investigate, and discover. Our teachers feel they are successful when they can say, “The children are now working as if I did not exist.” (Dr Maria Montessori)
While believing that every child has areas of special gifts, a unique learning style, and some areas that can be considered special challenges we allow students to learn at their own pace. Once again quoting Dr. Montessori “One test of the correctness of educational procedure is the happiness of the child.” I take pride in saying that every environment at Montessori Bal Nilaya is a happy environment.
